Are you looking to broaden your knowledge of underglazes application, glazes and oxides and learn how to create interesting surfaces with depth and movement? Then join us for an exciting day full of exploring the possibilities of pattern, prints and pots!
Morning Session: Learn how to observe your surroundings, focusing your attention to detail to create your own, unique, shapes and patterns. You will learn various techniques such as monoprinting, screen printing and lino printing, building these shapes and patterns up into your own unique print. Working on paper and ceramics, learning how to translate your mark making from one material to the other.
Lunch: A homemade lunch will be provided. Tea, coffee and snacks provided throughout the day. Please let me know any dietry requirements upon booking.
Afternoon Session: Emily will take you through various handbuilding and decorating techniques in clay, enabling you to build your own vessel. Drawing from the skills learnt in the morning session Emily will direct you through translating your pattern and print into glazing techniques to decorate your finished pot.
What's Provided: All materials and tools will be provided, as well as refreshments and a homemade lunch. So all you need to bring is yourself and an apron! Perfect for beginners to intermediates and those wanting to further their knowledge of surface decorating in ceramics.
Parking/Travel: The hall is situated to the rear of Marygate Car Park. Parking at Marygate car park is approx. £20 per day. The best option if travelling by car is to park at Rawcliffe Park and Ride, YO30 5XZ, and to get the bus to Bootham. The hall is just a short walk from Bootham down Marygate Road. The park and ride is approx. £3.80 for the day.
If travelling by train then the easiest way to get to the hall is to exit the train station via the short stay carpark and walk over the river across Scarborough Bridge. This brings you to Marygate car park and the hall is situated in the top right hand corner of the car park.
